Backyard and indoor playground projects can look similar in a catalogue but behave very differently on site. Start by separating the actual play footprint from circulation, seating, storage and other venue functions, then mark entrances, fixed obstacles and the route adults need to supervise.
For an indoor room, share the lowest clear height, columns, doors, lighting and building services that affect the arrangement. For a backyard or other outdoor setting, include boundaries, slope, drainage, surface conditions, sun exposure and access for delivery or maintenance.
